Mt. Juliet

Located roughly 25 minutes east of Nashville, off I-40, Wilson County’s Mt. Juliet has been one of the fastest growing cities in Tennessee since 2000. Mt. Juliet housing primarily consists of single-family homes in a suburban setting. Mt. Juliet is appealing to families due to its good schools, safe neighborhoods, and reasonable housing prices. As recently as the late 1990s, Mt. Juliet had a lot of open land and a small town feel. It has consistently grown since that time, though, adding not only housing, but also a large shopping center, Providence, which offers shopping, numerous restaurants, and a movie theater. Mt. Juliet boasts friendly people and reasonable housing prices. Also, taxes in Wilson County are generally less than those in Davidson County and Nashville.

BEST KNOWN FOR

Mt. Juliet was the home of country music legend Charlie Daniels. His contributions to the area were so significant that Mt. Juliet named a park after him.

THE THINGS WE LOVE

1. The Providence area. Retail, restaurants, and other attractions make Providence a fun area to visit.

2. Catching the train. The Nashville area as a whole lacks the public transportation options of some other cities. For those looking to avoid a daily commute, the Music City Star will carry you from Mt. Juliet to the Nashville Riverfront.

ONE NEGATIVE

Traffic. Mt. Juliet, like much of middle Tennessee, has grown rapidly since the late 1990s. As a result, traffic can be heavy in the town’s main arteries, especially in the Providence area.

FAVORITE ACTIVITY

Mt. Juliet is bordered by Old Hickory Lake to the north and Percy Priest Lake to the south. It is a great place for those that like boating, skiing, and fishing.

COMMUTE TIMES
